On 9 March 2021, an agreement was signed between the Department of Agricultural, Food and Forests Sciences of the University of Palermo, partner of the project, and the Municipalities of Troina and Acireale and Rete Fattorie Sociali Sicilia (associate partner).
With this agreement was officially launched the pilot phase 3 of the project “City Logistic Electromobility Services” aimed to evaluate, on an economic and environmental point of view, the opportunities for the spread of electric mobility in the short food supply chain. The agreement was signed in the presence of the Rector of the University of Palermo, Professor Fabrizio Micari, Stefano Colazza (Director of the SAAF Department), Antonino Galati (Scientific Officer of the project), Fabio Venezia (Mayor of the Municipality of Troina), Stefano Alì (Mayor of the Municipality of Acireale), Salvatore Cacciola (President of Rete Fattorie Sociali Sicilia).
The experimentation phase will consist in the implementation of an electric vehicle in the short agro-food supply chain and provides, in addition to the rental of the electric vehicle, the installation of 2 charging points in the two municipalities involved. The objective will be to evaluate the economic, environmental and social sustainability of the adoption of the electric vehicle for companies operating within this supply chain.
The signing of the agreement, result of the intense work of the Unipa Team, confirms the importance of creating a network and synergies in the Territory among different stakeholders in order to achieve the ambitious goal of the project with the aim of creating environmental, economic and social benefits for the entire community.
